About the Book
Among the challenges of 21st century, one of the most challenging tasks is to pave a novel technology to increase crop production for the growing human population. Bidirectional mechanisms of plant microbe interactions and plant immune systems have been gained progress since decades. However, the impact of microbial interaction with plants and environmental factors is still under infancy and needs technology in terms of molecular and mechanistic insight. Studies are necessary to reach a systems-level understanding with a strong predictive power for forecasting the performance of plant-microbe interactions under dynamic climatic conditions in crop fields and natural ecosystems. Microbial interactions with plants and environment will hopefully identify a set of environment-sensitive â??â??joysticksâ??â?? in the plant defence network, symbiosis biology, and microbial community structure that are genetically or chemically modifiable. Since a decade, research has been gained progress in understanding the role of environmental conditions to shape agricultural crops. Identification of such switches should provide a platform for developing a new generation of plant varieties in which beneficial plant-microbe interactions can be made more resilient, and more vulnerable to a warming and harsher climate. Micro-biome interaction is a promising area of research for making crop plants more resilient to both abiotic and biotic stresses.
The prime aim and objective of this book is to highlight the current research technologies to achieve sustainable agricultural production while keeping the environmental quality and health. This book has 17 chapters encompassing the influence of beneficial microorganisms and their impact on crop productivity and development of eco-friendly technologies with low-cost input for sustenance of health and quality of environment. Chapters were written by different experts from India and abroad to highlight the role microorganisms for sustainable agriculture and health. I compliment the authors and hope the teachers and researchers working in this area will make use of this publication.
